RIYL: The Flying Luttenbachers, James Chance, Erase Errata --Jenny Pfafflin X27, Your Neu Favorite Band [Narnack] Pulling some old material from EPs and new material, X27 is spazzy, guitar band reminiscent of early Chicago no wave. Features Rikkeh of Duotron on guitar. --Jenny Pfafflin Venetian Snares, Badminton/Edgewood Park got this yesterday, super fast jazz from VSnares. i hope addict is sending WSUM one, but they could sell-out all of them because the sound is so sexy and loose. this appeals to fans of jazz, electronica, assicalifornia and the state of wisconsin... or your favorite make-out place. good music, great oldies, better undies. --David Parisi A Grape Dope, Missing Dragons EP A Grape Dope is the nom de solo of Tortoise/Isotope 217/5ive Style drummer Johnny Herndon. Electronic music that is as percussive as his "live" bands -- he flirts with post-rock, dub and hip-hop. The Mekon's Sally Timms and Anticon rapper Dose One also guest. Supercool. --Jenny Pfafflin Marcelo Radulovich, Hello [Accretions] Ambient, Noise (Yelling), Beats, Found Sound (Mexican Pop), Weird Moans ("Hola.")... That's the first track. This album fucking rules. Much better than his last album, which was also pretty cool. Album art includes some Krishna body with a Hank Williams head, as well as a fucked up story. I guess I should listen to the rest of it now. --Jacob Heule Manitoba, Up In Flames [Domino] Analog! Digital! A perfect psychedelic dance album. Blissed-out beats, shimmering textures, sunny melodies. This is the sound of a perfect summer day. --Jenny Pfafflin Ultra-Red, Amnistia! [Antiopic] Ultra-Red make house music with audio material recorded from socially active events, places and people. This release deals with immigrant rights demanded on May Day at a New York City rally. It's short, clocking in at only 20 minutes, but it's good. Comes with the audio, "Any battle for free speech is a battle for public space." That's on my favorite track three. Right on, play this for anybody who demands house music all night long and yourself to dance/listen closely to. --David Parisi Comments: ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- I've recently had the pleasure of seeing Coachwhips, X27 and SubArachnoid Space. Things are going well in Madison, but I'll personally be leaving fairly shortly. Sorry for the long delay in sending out this chart. We have indeed been playing playing your albums (note the extreme length of this chart). Thanks for the continued support. --Jacob Felix Heule, Experimental Music Director
