[Emperor Norton] DJ Picks: Jacob Heule (Monday 9pm-12am): Fanny - "Fear and Loathing for Dummies 2" [Zod]: Zod formed in Milwaukee at the start of this year and they have been releasing excellent stuff ever since (I think they are up to 7 albums so far). Fanny (#5) is no exception. Like other Zod artists and their buddies on Addict Records, Fanny busts out crazy fucking hardcore beats. It sounds a lot like Atari Teenage Riot if they were good. It's different in the fact that there's no idiotic shouting (just some amusing samples) and there is a greater emphasis on deconstructing standard electronic forms like drum and bass. Anyway, check out this album and other Zod stuff to find out one of the reasons that Wisconsin doesn't totally suck. Jennifer Pfafflin (Wednesday 10pm-1am): Erase Errata: An all-girl four-piece from California that has recently piqued my interest ... Disco dance beats and harsh guitars comparable to Gang of Four as well as the sound of Chicago No Wave circa 1990s (namecheck: The Scissor Girls). Erase Errata recently released a split 7" with Black Dice, but their upcoming full-length release on Troubleman in the fall is what I'm really anticipating. Comments: ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sorry if you've sent me an album and it hasn't been added yet. I have a large pile waiting in my box and I've been pretty busy, but I'll check out all of it eventually. I've also been delayed because the A/C at the staion is broken and I can't spend too much time in an 82-degree office. --Jacob Heule (Program Director / Experimental Music Director)
